Fatou won her first poetry competition at the Vancouver Slam Poetry a year after she finally found the courage to use her voice. She has been a writer and speaker her entire life. Poetry, however, is her foremost form of expression because having grown up all around the world; writing was the only means that freed her to express and share the multiplicity that is her identity and experiences.
Fatou is a TERRY talks feature (modeled after TEDx Talks), a TEDxFreetown organizer and a communications and branding strategist by profession. Fatou contributes for Standard Times Newspaper in Freetown, is a blogger for the Huffington Post and writers for her own blog – thefatoublog.
Upon returning back to her native home, Sierra Leone, Fatou has found herself amidst people of who. she knows. She finds herself always being a writer, a speaker, a photographer – a storyteller. She plans of publishing her first chap book by early next year.
