I knew a man called Livingstone

Mara tells the story of the great Scottish explorer David Livingstone from the perspective of his African friends. In an extraordinary attempt to ensure his spirit rested in peace, his companions Susi and Chuma and eighty others carried the doctor’s body from the very centre of Africa to the East African coast so he could be returned to the land of his birth. The story is revealed through vibrant storytelling and music.

Seven-year-old Aarna launches her first book Fluffy the Cat at the Storymoja Hay Festival. Eleven-year-old Joseph Bokea is working on his fantasy fiction novel.  Their parents share their experiences of finding and nurturing talent in their child.

This inspiring storyteller introduces her No. 1 Car Spotter series – bright and plucky adventures set in West Africa. Trouble is brewing in No. 1’s village – cars are being stolen from outside Mama Coca-Cola’s chop house. It’s not long before cars are being stolen throughout the whole country! No. 1 is now more determined than ever to catch those pesky car thieves! Hear all about it from the storyteller herself – Atinuke.

Science Fiction

Norwegian Johan Harstad is an award-winning novelist, short story writer, graphic artist, playwright and blogger. Published internationally, his science fiction/horror story for young adults ‘172 Hours On The Moon’ won the Brage Prize for children’s literature. Johan lives and works in Oslo, and has travelled to Nairobi to share his stories.
